This is a Physical Works contract that NZTA is advertising on behalf of the Chatham Islands Ports Limited.
The Waitangi Wharf fuel pipeline is located on Chatham Islands and connects the main wharf fuel pumping facility to the island’s bulk fuel storage area approximately 550 metres inland. The pipeline corridor runs from the wharf, along the access road and adjacent retaining wall, before entering the storage tank compound.
Over recent years, intermittent diesel releases have been observed near the retaining wall close to the wharf‑side access road, highlighting the sensitive nature of the surrounding environment and the operational importance of the fuel transfer route. Routine maintenance activities have also identified rust scale within the tank‑area strainer baskets, indicating internal deterioration somewhere within the older buried pipe sections.
The Contract Works comprise of:
-Construction of the new diesel pipeline (fabrication & installation /laying of new piping and support brackets, corrosion and cathodic protection, hydrostatic and non-destructive testing)
-Supply of materials, plant and personnel to construct the Contract Works, as described in the
-Documents and the drawings.
-Coordination with the civil works contractor.
Exclusion - Civil works (trenching, backfilling, and road-surface reinstatement) will be completed by others.
Electronic copies of the RFT documentation are attached to this advertisement.
