This is a Physical Works contract for the construction of a roundabout at the SH1 / Dunns Crossing Rd / Walkers Rd intersection, realignment and widening of the SH1, Dunns Crossing Rd, and Walkers Rd carriageways; efficiency improvement signalising and widening at the Weedons interchange; the construction of new, and removal of existing, rail level crossing on Walkers Rd.

The project site is located in Rolleston and the works include but are not limited to: site clearance; earthworks; pavement and surfacing; structures including subway, retaining walls, foundations; drainage including stormwater basins; signage and marking; traffic signals and ITS; street lighting; road safety barriers; landscaping; railway civil and track, utilities relocation/protection; cycle and pedestrian facilities.

Only tenderers pre-qualified to level levels 2B (Surfacing), 3B (Bridge & Structure Construction) and 4A (Construction) under the terms of the Transport Agency’s Prequalification System and ‘Civil’ and ‘Track’ under the KiwiRail Prequalified Contractors Panel for Physical Works are eligible to submit a tender.

A compulsory tender inception meeting will be scheduled for the week commencing 28 July 2025 to be held at the NZ Transport Agency’s offices (Level 1, BNZ Centre, 120 Hereford St). Tenderers wishing to submit a tender may only do so if a representative of the tenderer’s organisation has attended this meeting. The exact time and date of this meeting will be confirmed via a Notice to Tenderers.
