Research to create a revised and enhanced, nationally consistent travel mode choice model suitable for integration with regional and national-level applications. The following objectives seek to Improve approaches to mode choice modelling through:

a. a review of the current and emerging scientific and transport literature pertaining to the substantive drivers or variables behind travel mode choice as they apply to:

I. multi-modal, multi-leg, multi-user journeys, and critical journeys

II. interaction effects among these variables.

b. development of a rationalised set of data inputs is required, in addition to a critique of said inputs that may be used to enhance future data quality and data gathering efforts.

c. development of standardised procedures that enable actors around Aotearoa/New Zealand to coordinate efforts and share comparable findings.
