The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) is seeking to establish a panel of appropriately qualified suppliers to provide consultancy services for the NZTA’s Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) across 5 categories of service:
1. ITS Engineering and Design Services
2. ITS Technology Support
3. ITS Standards and Specifications
4. ITS Data Analysis and Insights
5. ITS General Consultancy Services
ITS refers to any technology applied to transport and infrastructure. ITS use information, data processing, communication and technologies across vehicles, transport infrastructure and transport users to increase the effectiveness, performance, safety and efficiency of the transport system.
Examples of ITS include ramp signalling, dynamic lane management, variable speed limits, incident detection, vehicle-activated signs and adaptive traffic signal control. Many of the systems are integrated to gain maximum benefit.
