NZ Transport Agency invites Registration of Interest (ROI) from prequalified and experienced consortia wishing to tender for the SH3 Awakino Tunnel Bypass.
This is a Design and Construction model physical works contract for the of the SH3 Awakino Tunnel Bypass project, located 50km south of Te Kuiti, roughly half way between Hamilton and New Plymouth. The project is expected to reduce fatal and serious crashes and road closures, as well as improving the performance of the network. Parts of the site are highly constrained by poor access, steep terrain and the narrow existing highway, as well as the meandering Awakino River.
Key elements of the Contract Works may include earthworks, retaining walls, bridging, underpasses, and landscape and restoration planting.
After registration the Agency will in due course advise on further stages in the procurement process with an anticipated contract award in October 2017.
Only Tenderers pre-qualified to Bridge Construction & Level 3A and Construction &; Level 4A of the Highways and Network Operations (HNO) Prequalification System will be eligible to submit a tender.
