What is the nature of substance impaired driving (SID) in New Zealand that leads to the review of driver licences via the medical review process, and what is the impact of this process on the drivers?

What is the nature of substance impaired driving (SID) in New Zealand that leads to the revocation of driver licences via the medical review process, and what is the impact of licence revocation on the drivers?

The purpose of this research is to:
a) to describe in detail the known incidents of SID by developing detailed profiles of SID cases outlined in Medical Review Team records, and
b) to develop exemplar case study stories for a range of typical SID cases as profiled from the medical review records.
