The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) has initiated a project to transform the way external assessment is delivered, including changes to the supporting operating model. The goal is for all National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) examinations, where appropriate, to be online by 2020.
NZQA is working closely with the Ministry of Education to ensure alignment between this initiative and broader education strategies. We are also working with a wide group of education sector stakeholders and government agencies. We are expected to add online assessment capability to the wider education sector as a strategic investment for the education system.

NZQA is undertaking an outcomes based procurement for digital assessment as that provides us with the best opportunity to form a strategic partnership to move us from paper-based delivery of NCEA external assessments (examinations) to digital. This approach ensures we remain focused on our goal of ensuring that learners Qualify For the Future World.

NZQA is interested in hearing from a range of suppliers, locally and internationally, and is open to a consortium approach.
