Unitec requires a contractor with the experience to undertake roof invasive checks.

The team should be qualified to work at heights, able to remove the existing key highlighted areas safely whilst not compromising safety. The contractor, where deemed necessary, should seal exposed areas to prevent weathertightness, sealant & safety issues after invasive checks are completed. The contractor must have sufficient resources and, as the checks will be undertaken in a live campus environment, must be able to work efficiently without impacting the school or learners. Prior to work commencing, the contractor must take all safety precautions/steps to undertake the key following: asbestos checks, safety equipment where necessary to meet the code and ensure the area that the contractor/sub-contractor will operate is not a risk.

Key checks/confirmation
1. Confirmation on the location and number of rainwater outlets
2. Confirmation on the size, location and number of downpipes
3. Roof penetration details, the skylights and any raised roof condenser platform.
4. Cut out to the exterior soffit for further review (3 locations refer to the mark-up plan)
5. Confirmation existing roof mounted equipment is in good working condition.
6. Checks on existing truss cavity, if possible, obtain photos of the underside of the roof to determine
the condition of the Triple S sarking
