Te Pūkenga - New Zealand Institute of Skills & Technology trading as Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) invites qualified contractors to submit proposals for the manufacture and installation of a new (relocatable) Fire Training Facility.
The objective is to deliver a fully functional, safe, and modern training environment capable of supporting practical firefighting training for both land-based and maritime scenarios. This facility will be used to deliver accredited training programs in compliance with Maritime New Zealand and other relevant qualification authorities.
The proposal must address the following key components:
1. Regulatory Compliance
* Full compliance with all applicable regulatory authorities, including health and safety, environmental, and fire safety standards.
2. Facility Requirements
* Augmented reality solution: Leading technology to provide as realistic as possible compartment fire environments as required in maritime firefighting.
* Smoke Simulation: Integration capability for smoke machines to enhance training realism.
* Artificial heat: Provide the ability for heat to be artificially generated to best replicate the conditions in a compartment fire.
* Emergency Venting System: Automated venting triggered by pre-set internal temperature thresholds.
3. Preferred (Non-Mandatory) Features
* External Remote Temperature Monitoring: For real-time temperature control and emergency venting management.
* Remote Fire Area Control: Ability to increase or decrease simulated fire intensity in specific zones, particularly for gaseous fire scenarios.
* Training Program Compatibility: Facility must support current training programs and maintain compliance with Maritime New Zealand and NZQA standards.
Note there are two simultaneous RFPs for MIT Firefighting Training Facility - this RFP canvasses a facility for an augmented reality training system while the other RFP canvasses a new facility for live fire training.
