We require a UPLC as it will increase our throughput by reducing run times. A single quad mass detector along with a PDA (photodiode array) detector will improve our ability to identify compounds and the ability to perform routine MS analysis on our own samples will free up the chemists at other sites to perform analyses that are more complex.
