Plant and Food Research requires an x-ray machine to carry out phytosanitary research to control regulated pests, product quality research to extend the postharvest life of food and food safety research to reduce the risk of human health organisms on food.

Further information:
The ROI - first stage has been completed. To date no specific respondees were identified as preferred suppliers at this RFI stage. A further tender will likely be issued in due course once further background information has been considered. A steering committee that has been assembled to collate information to allow an evaluation of the feasibility of this technology for use to support fresh horticultural exports from NZ. While this exercise has already begun the process is expected to take about twelve months to complete.
