Request for Information
The New Zealand Fire Service (NZFS) is seeking information on portable gas detection instruments that are able to be used where a hazardous atmosphere including oxygen deficiency is present, or is likely to be present. Portable gas detetection (gas detection) equipment is a generic term and these instruments are used over a wide variety of roles within the NZFS. For example, fire investigation, urban search and rescue, confined space rescues, decontamination, training and hazardous substances incidents. The NZFS currently uses both electronic and non electronic means of gas detection equipment.
The NZFS wants to understand the current and future direction of gas detection equipment and the strengths and weakness of sensor types and designs for incorporation into a future gas detection strategy.
