We are undertaking a programme of work to make operational changes to testing in our two donation accreditation laboratories. This work will automate sending test requirements from our Blood Management Systems (generically, Laboratory Information System, or LIS) to the donation accreditation analysers. It will also remove various tests and the associated manual processes that are currently relied upon for the efficient use of analyser resources and for tracking samples.
Instead of using more complex manual processes, we require an automated solution that will identify the test requirements for a given sample, prioritise and group the tubes based on those requirements and ultimately ensure sample traceability during post-testing storage. The objective is to maximise the efficient use of analyser capacity, minimise consumable costs whilst maintaining an operationally safe service.
By way of this market analysis, we are seeking to understand the capability and cost of sample sorting and archiving systems including the systems capability to integrate with our middleware. NZBS is not currently considering full sample automation but expect this is the strategic direction that will be pursued.
We are also seeking to understand the prerequisites to installation, the approach to implementation and the delivery lead times.
Your response should be based on a ‘proposed solution’ that you think will best meet our current state as described in Section 2.1.
Depending upon our assessment of revised workflow practices and the perceived benefits of automated sample management, we may or may not proceed to a Request for Proposal.
