NZBS currently undertakes HLA typing for compatibility testing of solid organ and stem cell transplant recipients and donors in the National Tissue Typing Laboratory located in Auckland. This process is currently carried out using a mixture of Sanger sequencing, PCR-SSO and PCR-SSP. The intention is to replace these methods with a single pass high resolution Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) method, for which NZBS now seeks to obtain proposals for supply.
