Overview

• Resident in Honiara, Solomon Islands (with frequent travel to the provinces)
• 1 year fulltime (230 days), possible further 1 year extension (120 days over 12 months)
• New Zealand Government support programme
• Provide quality strategic literacy advice to the Solomon Island’s educational sector

The New Zealand Government has been requested to provide technical assistance to support the Solomon Islands Ministry of Education, and Human Resources Development (MEHRD), the Literacy Programme Management Unit (LPMU) and Education Authorities (EA) to improve literacy outcomes for school students in line with the National Education Action Plan 2016-2020.

Working closely and building positive and productive relationships with your counterparts, the successful candidate needs to be politically sensitive; recognise the importance of stakeholder engagement; be self-motivated and highly organised; have structured programme and reporting work habits; and understand and respect the culture and diversity of the environment.
