Overview

The New Zealand Aid Programme seeks to provide timely and high quality specialist health services to Vanuatu, Fiji, Tuvalu, Kiribati and Tonga via the New Zealand Medical Treatment Scheme (NZMTS).

New Zealand has been supporting access to lifesaving medical treatment for certain Pacific countries for over 30 years. Support through the New Zealand Medical Treatment Scheme (NZMTS) includes visiting medical teams, overseas referrals for treatment and support to develop in-country capability. The new NZMTS for Vanuatu, Fiji, Tuvalu, Kiribati and Tonga will commence on 1 January 2017, however, it is expected that preparatory activities will need to commence at least one month earlier.

All the countries, except Vanuatu, have their own government funded overseas referral schemes, which the NZMTS complements. A 2014 review found clear qualitative evidence that the NZMTS was successfully meeting clinical needs and funding specialist hospital treatment needs that would otherwise be unmet.

No additional information is available at this time. NO response to this advance notice is required, however, interested parties may wish to email the below contact to pre-register their details and interest in the upcoming Request for Proposals (RFP) and to attend a briefing for interested parties.
