Northland Regional Council requires a contractor able to apply herbicide to four dune lakes with incursions of aquatic weeds.
The predominant weed requiring control is hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum). The overarching objective of the project is to achieve eradication of hornwort in these lakes and wetland areas, using herbicide. This application could be via boat or helicopter or both. Northland Regional Council is open to tenders from either type of supplier, and may choose to use two different contractors to apply the herbicide in different ways at different times.
The scope of works is to apply the herbicide Endothall in the form of ‘Aquathol K’ HSR:000946 to the lakes and associated wetlands while meeting all the controls and regulations.
Up to three quarter lake treatments of each of the four lake and wetland areas may be required. Each quarter lake treatment will be priced separately. The second and third treatments may not be required, depending on the results obtained from the first treatment. The contract does not guarantee three treatments of each lake.
There are over 100 controls, conditions and requirements that must be met by the Contractor and Northland Regional Council to use Aquathol K in the dune lakes. We are looking for a contractor with the track record, capability, qualifications and capacity to meet all the conditions and controls in the contract.
The exact timing of herbicide application is yet to be determined, but is likely to be in February, March and April of 2022. The herbicide must be applied by March 2023.
