The Northland Regional Council (NRC) and the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research Ltd (NIWA) (the Clients) propose to grow kingfish in a purpose-built facility on-land, at their Northland Marine Research Center site at Ruakaka. This facility will be the first out of four potential stages for the overall development of the kingfish farm at this location. The key feature of this facility will be the use of Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) for the treatment and recirculation of the seawater used in the fish tanks. The Client is inviting Registrations of Interests (RoI) from proponents for the construction and overall delivery of the first stage of this iconic project. Submissions are to be uploaded on GETS and are due no later than 4pm on Wednesday, 24 March 2021.
