The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research Ltd (NIWA) and Northland Regional Council (NRC), are proposing a development at NIWA’s Northland Marine Research Centre site at Ruakaka, Northland. The proposed development involves the construction of a facility to grow kingfish on-land.
NIWA and NRC are now in the process of procuring a Consultancy to undertake the detailed design which will include structural, geotechnical and minor civils elements. Alta Consulting are providing Project Manager Services for the Project. JHL Consulting from Canada are currently undertaking the design of the Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). The JHL design scope includes the overall process design and process elements including the plant layout and associated equipment, pipework flows and dimensions and water retaining structure levels and dimensions. NRC/NIWA require a Consultant to provide design services for the below elements including completing the detailed design and associated building consent application.
Geotechnical and foundations
Water retaining tank structures
Supports for HDPE pipework, loading areas and access walkways
Minor civil components including SW drainage
Electrical design will be undertaken by a separate Consultant.
