The Wairau Hospital, operated by the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board (NMDHB), is a hospital campus located in Blenheim. The hospital provides a variety of services and facilities, including two operating theatres.

Each operating theatre has a dedicated air handling unit (AHU), and these two AHU’s have now reached the end of their economic life and will be replaced.

Operating theatre availability is critical to the operation of the hospital and therefore the AHU replacements must be undertaken one after the other in a very timely manner without time or cost overruns to ensure only one Theatre is out of service at a time for a firmly specified period of time.
