Overview

The Principal is relocating its community health services to Manaia House, in central Whangarei. The service includes Whangarei Community Mental Health and Addiction Services (MHAS) and Child and Youth Services (C&YS). The services are currently dispersed over multiple sites, are fragmented, an inefficient use of resources and create inequity in access to services. The service has been growing with additional FTEs and new service contracts. There is little capacity in the existing sites to accommodate the growth.

Project aspirations include:
- to provide an integrated community hub that removes historic stigmatic views and improves access across the various services.
- to provide a service setting that is culturally appropriate, socially inclusive, values our clients and gives them easy access.
- to provide a service setting that is purpose built and equipped with the technology and space to support staff to meet service demands.
- to provide one service setting for all intended services to support integration and efficiency and reduce existing fragmented leases.

This project requires 4000m2 internal fit out works with minimal external works required.
Construction is set to begin first thing 2022.
