As part of Council’s commitment to digital equity, free Wi-Fi has been provided in the city for a number of years for 9 CBD locations.
This contract is on a month-by-month basis and the technology and hardware at a lot of the sites is old and due to be replaced.
It is proposed that an ROI is advertised on GETS (followed by an invited RFP) to understand level of suppliers available who could provide appropriate hardware, installation, maintenance and software services in order to:
• Broaden the provision of free Wi-Fi in the city from the existing sites to others such as Bayview and Taradale.
• Understand the costs of installation and maintenance of upgraded hardware
• Ensure ongoing services such as provision of software/portals to provide an overview of usage
