Overview

Nelson City Council (Principal) is seeking to procure a contractor to carry out works on our community’s infrastructure. To achieve our objectives we are looking for solutions which meet our Council values and mandate, core to this is care and respect for our people.

The Principal is looking for a collaborative Contractor to undertake Contract Works associated with the remediation of the Poleford Bridge. The Poleford Bridge (constructed in 1936) is a 21 m long, single-lane, two-span, reinforced concrete T-beam structure that carries Maitai Valley Road across the Maitai River approximately 5 km southwest of Nelson City Centre.

With reference to recent bridge inspections and the concrete condition assessment conducted by WSP Research on 15th March 2022. The bridge has been assessed to be in moderately poor condition, with a large volume of reinforcement corrosion-induced concrete spalling affecting its superstructure, along with the soffits of the external deck cantilevers and internal deck, with the base of the beams displaying the most extensive deterioration.

The scope of work will include the installation of a pre-stressing system and the construction of a temporary floating deck to facilitate the repair process.

Suppliers are reminded that all communication is to be via questions submitted on GETS, which will be responded to via the GETS Question & Answer facility.
