Overview

The Ministry is seeking information from respondents on a national training and accreditation framework for restorative justice facilitators.

The quality of the Ministry’s restorative justice services is intrinsically linked to the quality of the facilitators. A training and accreditation framework is therefore an essential element (along with restorative justice provider contracts) in assuring stakeholders of the sector’s professionalism, capacity and capability.

To provide for this, the Ministry is proposing to develop a new restorative justice training and accreditation framework based around the following “high level” approach:

all restorative justice facilitators providing Ministry contracted services are trained and accredited;

training and accreditation is managed and delivered by one or more professional bodies contracted to the Ministry;

the Ministry also enhances the current competence framework for restorative justice facilitators to deliver core and specialist (Family Violence and Sexual Offending) restorative justice services; and

any new framework demonstrates alignment to broader training and accreditation for restorative practice.

Responses to this RFI will be used to develop a sourcing strategy for the Ministry’s requirements by determining the range of possible solutions, technologies and goods or services available and obtaining more information on, or a better understanding of, the suppliers in the market.
