The Ministry is seeking to engage a suitably experienced and competent main construction contractor to undertake construction works at the Dannevirke District Court (the Court). The existing roof is approximately 40 years old, has now exceeded its expected lifespan and has a documented history of leaks across multiple locations. It now requires a full replacement.
A recent condition assessment by WSP confirmed that the roof is no longer fit for purpose and recommended a full replacement. WSP has provided a specification that includes notable modifications to the roofing structure, which will guide the delivery of the works. As some components of the existing roof contain asbestos, all removal and handling must comply with applicable regulations.
In addition to the roof replacement, the project includes internal refurbishment and building services upgrades. The Court will remain operational throughout the works, which will be delivered in a staged manner to minimise disruption.
The purpose of this procurement is to appoint a Main Contractor to deliver the roof replacement and associated building works at Dannevirke District Court, located at 5-7 Gordon Street, Dannevirke.
Key outcomes:
• Ensure the Court remains safe, functional, and compliant with statutory standards.
• Minimise disruption to Court services and maintain safe, secure access for court staff and users throughout construction.
• Deliver works to time, cost, and quality requirements, achieving Practical Completion no later than September 2026.
