The Ministry of Justice is seeking Registrations of Interest (ROI) from main contractors for the upgrading of facilities at the Waitakere District Court, Ratanui Street, Henderson.
This Scope of Work generally covers:
• the conversion of the youth court into a multi-use court,
• the extension of the secure holding facilities and office,
• upgrading of public areas, lawyers’ facilities and toilets, and
• the reconfiguration and refurbishment of the judicial areas, and courtrooms
The building works required will involve demolition, internal alterations, external extensions, the installation of additional mechanical and hydraulic services, electrical services, modifications to the fire services including sprinklers to the cell area only and the reconfiguration of existing spaces.
The fitout works will require the reconfiguration of some functional spaces to provide an improved operational facility. Work will be required to existing ceilings, existing partitions, existing flooring and existing fixed joinery units.
Redecorating and replacement of elements that have reached the end of their life cycle. Some fixed furniture items such as public seating and courtroom joinery will be included.
Important considerations are:
• Court operations will continue throughout the construction period and quiet periods will be required. Some afterhours work will be required to accommodate MOJ’s operations.
• Project success will require close liaison and open communication between the project team, and designated MOJ officials.
• The works will take place almost entirely in occupied areas of the building, and reasonable contractor access will be provided. Separation of the works from all court users and operations will be an important project driver.Work will need to be planned and undertaken to ensure minimal disruption to court hearings and other court operations.
• Included in the works will be the coordination of the Ministry of Justice’s direct suppliers for audio visual, IT services, furnishings fittings and equipment.
The Ministry seeks responses from credible contractors, who have the skills, expertise, experience and capacity to deliver the Scope of Services requested above.
