Two of The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa’s (Te Papa’s) strategic objectives are Museum Renewal and Digital Development. The permanent exhibitions, largely unchanged since 1998, will be replaced over the next five years. At the same time we are digitising collections and planning to apply technology in creative ways to develop digital interactions and environments that enhance the visitor experience. These initiatives will make Te Papa’s extensive collections more available, enhancing the museum experience through enriching our stories and allowing far reaching and deeper audience engagement.

We will be releasing several open RFP’s on GETS (www.gets.govt.nz) in January 2016 in order to establish panel supplier contracts for the following services:
Model Making – Exhibition models , objects and shapes
Graphic Design – Print, Digital and Production
3D Design – Full service, Senior Designer, CAD services
Digital Skills – content design, product development, Internet-based technologies, data analytics. Including mobile, tablet, games development.
Construction and Joinery – Building and cabinetry

These represent exciting opportunities to be involved in – the first major re-development at Te Papa in 20 years. We appreciate the timing is not ideal being so close to the end of the holiday period, but things are moving quickly.
