Overview

The Seddon Memorial, built in 1908 is an historic icon with significant cultural heritage value as a reminder of the contribution of Richard J Seddon who served as Prime Minister for 13 years and 44 days.

The Ministry for Culture and Heritage has responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of national memorials and monuments and, in this capacity has been monitoring and maintaining the Seddon Memorial for many years. Over recent years it has become apparent that the memorial has been subject to water ingress resulting in the gradual deterioration of parts of the memorial. The Ministry therefore engaged a conservation architect to assist in the work required to identify and remediate the problems. The architect has provided a detailed scope of work/specifications and the Ministry now seeks a suitably qualified and experienced supplier to undertake the work required to bring the memorial up to a suitable standard and to address the water ingress issues permanently.
