The Whare Wānaka project was conceived as part of Lincoln University’s wider master planning exercise in response to the Canterbury Earthquake sequence, which depleted the University of several buildings and forced the closure of the Student Union Building.
It is a space that holds both cultural and educational significance for the University.

This Request for Proposal (RFP) pertains to the engagement of a Main Build Contractor for the construction and delivery of the Whare Wānaka, in accordance with the detailed design documentation.

The scope of works generally includes, but is not limited to, the following key components:

-Initial Ground Works: All necessary site preparation, including excavation, earthworks, and foundation setting.
- Construction, including integrating all Services: construction of the Whare in accordance with the contract, including installation and integration of essential building services,
- Interior Fit-Out: Completion of all internal spaces in alignment with the detailed architectural and design specifications.
- Landscaping: Implementation of external works and landscaping as per the approved plans
- Code Compliance Documentation: Provision of all required documentation to support and obtain Code Compliance Certification (CCC) upon project completion
