Proposals are sought to replace the existing Horowhenua Kete online community archive platform (http://horowhenua.kete.net.nz).
Our vision is a digital community archive platform that embodies the values of utility, education, inheritance, community, and heritage. It will help to preserve the rich texture of our local history and add value to the community by inspiring a sense of ownership and pride for the wonderful resources that we possess. Based on the components, functions and features that the project and our stakeholders have decided upon, our goal is to create a modern, flexible digital library, one that is user-friendly, engaging and meets the needs of our users. It will be a:
Repository for all our local history resources across the region
Research hub (more than just raw content)
Content creation space (eg metadata & comments)
A space of freedom where the community can freely share and use the content they find and upload.
Kete Horowhenua currently runs on “Kete”, an open source solution, and has reached a stage where we need to look for a better platform to meet the needs of the community and its users including the administrators of the site.
Horowhenua District Council is looking for a simple and engaging platform that can be easily managed by the Library staff. We are looking for SaaS (software as a service) or COTS (commercial off the shelf) options as we would prefer to have the new platform up and running by March 2019 if possible
