Overview

The Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) and Precision Driven Health (PDH) are offering up to three Postdoctoral Fellowships to support innovative research into the emerging area of precision health and to help foster the health research workforce in New Zealand.

The HRC and PDH are seeking to support emerging scientists – who have outstanding potential to develop into highly skilled independent researcher-innovators – to explore more effective and personalised healthcare for New Zealanders leading to improved health outcomes and discoveries with a clear pathway to commercialisation.

Funding of up to $240,000 (exclusive of GST) for salary, salary associated costs and research expenses is available per Postdoctoral Fellowship for a duration of up to two years. The Fellowships must be taken up within three months of award notification (anticipated July 2020).

The proposed research must align with one or more of the research priorities outlined in the Request for Applications (RFA).

Applicants may be based in industry positions, academic institutions or other research organisations; the commercially-focused nature of the precision health research area supports scientists who may be in non-traditional settings.

Applications to this RFA will be submitted via a one-stage process. Applicants are firstly required to submit a Registration via HRC Gateway (HRC’s online application system). Registrations are due by 1pm, 25 February 2020. The full application will need to be submitted via HRC Gateway by 1pm, 10 March 2020.

Please refer to the RFA for more information. The RFA, application form and application guidelines are available on HRC Gateway (https://gateway.hrc.govt.nz/funding/requests-for-proposals).
