Overview

Further to our advance notice, Te Hiringa Hauora/Health Promotion Agency is now releasing a registration of interest seeking suppliers that have the capability and capacity to provide a Kaupapa Māori research team, with lived experience research capability, to co-design and lead a Kaupapa Māori research programme for the Nōku te Ao five-year strategy. This programme will research the problem, how it changes over time, and investigate best practice.
Nōku te Ao Like Minds works to increase social inclusion and reduce prejudice and discrimination for people with lived experience of severe mental distress, prioritising those who are most affected by mental distress and who often experience multiple forms of discrimination. You can find more information about the programme at www.nokuteao.org.nz

We want to connect with Kaupapa Māori researchers who can work in partnership with Te Hiringa Hauora/Health Promotion Agency, and our partners to collectively co-design, and implement a research programme for Nōku te Ao.
The Kaupapa Māori researchers will lead the research programme, and provide academic and Kaupapa Māori research leadership. A key component of the research programme will be to support and inform the work of our community activities partners to deliver up-to-date Kaupapa Māori research-informed initiatives for the benefit of all people who experience mental distress.

We will select a Kaupapa Māori research provider who can:
• research the problem and investigate best practice
• work with Te Hiringa Hauora and partners
• deliver strategy components to capture, critique and deepen our application and practice of Kaupapa Māori, in the implementation of excellent Māori health research knowledge practice
• work in partnership with and develop the research capability of people with lived experience of mental distress.

The anticipated budget is $750,000 over five (5) years.
