The Health Promotion Agency (HPA) is responsible for delivery of two national mental health programmes; the Like Minds, Like Mine programme and the National Depression Initiative (NDI). The NDI contributes to reducing the impact of mental distress on the lives of New Zealanders and Like Minds, Like Mine seeks to create a socially inclusive New Zealand that is free of stigma and discrimination towards people with experience of mental distress.
HPA is seeking registrations of interest from suppliers with the capability, experience and infrastructure to design and deliver a comprehensive and effective mental health lived experience leaders initiative to work across both mental health programmes. The initiative will ensure people who choose to share their personal experiences of mental distress and recovery are supported through effective induction, training and support.
The following pre-conditions must be met of potential supplier(s):
• Consumer led and delivered organisations that has demonstrated alignment and understanding of the mental health consumer movement.
• Experience of working collaboratively with others outside of their organisation to deliver a programme.

The Health Promotion Agency (HPA) is very pleased to announce a new initiative to support both Like Minds, Like Mine and the National Depression Initiative. After an extensive procurement process we are happy to announce that Changing Minds will be leading this three year initiative with Nga Hau e Wha as their national network partner. The initiative will ensure that people with lived experience of mental distress are at the centre of our work. The initiative will recruit, train, and support people with lived experience to talk about their mental distress and recovery in order to counter stigma and discrimination and encourage help-seeking. HPA looks forward to working with Changing Minds, Nga Hau e Wha and other allies on making this a success.
