The Hawkes Bay DHB require a main contractor to deliver the works necessary to complete the Education Centre Seismic Upgrade, Stage 2 Construction Project. The role will require the main contractor to plan, manage, monitor, coordinate, construct, and arrange, where appropriate, subcontractors to carry out the works to complete the project. The required services include the agreement of a lump sum price, and at the completion of the contract, the production of code compliance certificates, producer statements and warranties. As this is complex work, we require what is commonly referred to in the New Zealand industry as a ‘Tier 1’ contractor.
Building work will consist of the following:
• Installation of new structural steelwork to the northern end of the roof and first floor of the Education Centre/AAU building
• Installation of new structural steelwork to the building plant room in the roof space
• FRP strengthening of the concrete slab, and installation of new flooring throughout the area upon completion
• Making good walls and ceilings, and rebuilding of walls where steel has been installed
• Installation of new glazed aluminium partition walls to a small area of the library
• Installation of new built in joinery to the library area
The Histology Lab located at the Southern end of the building first floor will need to remain operational throughout the construction project, as will the Hospital Pharmacy, Medical Day Unit and the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) located below the Education Centre on the building Ground Floor.
