Overview

The scope of this RFP is for the supply of an after hours task management system to improve patient safety and staff support.

NDHB wishes to improve the experience for patients, family, and Northland DHB staff. The Safer Afterhours Care programme of work envisions a move towards improved patient care and staff satisfaction by introducing clear frameworks for task management and multi-disciplinary teams.

Current task management process is done primarily verbally either in person or by calling the RMOs NDHB provided phone. These tasks are then written down by the RMO onto their patient list or other piece of paper. This method presents a lack of visibility and makes it challenging to address the focus areas as presented above. In order to address this, the requirements for an IT solution have been identified that would allow for the electronic management of tasks. This will be used afterhours and will focus on tasks being allocated to House Officers (HOs) and PAR (Patient At Risk) nurses in the first instance.

Task management system will be implemented to enable tasks to be created by a variety of identified staff members and communicated efficiently and effectively to the HOs or PAR nurses for actioning. It will also enable the triaging of these tasks so only tasks that are appropriate for those teams receive them. Tasks that require immediate escalation will be escalated, and tasks that can be completed without additional support can be completed by staff on the ward.
