Clinical Transcription Services relates to the process where digital dictation by District Health Board (DHB) clinicians is converted into clinical documentation system templates. Each of the Northern Region DHBs (NRDHBs) have their own in-house Clinical Transcription Service Team with approximately 165 clinical transcriptionists across 4 District Health Boards. They receive a combined 175 – 220 hours of dictation per week day from more than 6000 authors across more than 70 clinical specialties, using multiple document templates (see Appendix C for a list of specialties).
All overflow work volume that this team is unable to transcribe is out-sourced to Transcription Service Providers.
The NRDHBs spend approximately NZD $1 million on this out-sourcing activity (forecasted demand). This RFP seeks to establish a panel of suppliers to provide out-sourced Transcription Services for overflow work volume.
