The Institutes of Geological and Nuclear Sciences Limited (GNS) and Environmental Science and Research (ESR) are collaborating in a process to replace their core Financial Management Information (FMIS), People Management (HCM), Payroll and Professional Services Automation systems, as the current systems no longer meet their requirements.
We (GNS & ESR) are adopting a cloud-first approach to this acquisition and will move to a Software-as-a-Service solution as part of its overall strategy, for non-Science systems.
Projects and Finance (including CRM, Bid Processes and Contract Management)
We expect that, for our FMIS requirements, standard approaches will be sufficient and should be able to be accommodated by mature systems.
As part of the FMIS upgrade, we are also seeking a Professional Services Automation (PSA) capability, to support the full lifecycle of our Science Projects. For GNS, science activity is organised through the application of a project approach to manage funded activities. The ESR business model has a mixture of project activity and transactional revenue, generated from the provision of laboratory services. GNS has to a lesser extent laboratory services contributing transactional revenue.
We are seeking a step change in our ability to manage the lifecycle of Science Projects, manage revenues generated through integrations with transactional systems, supported by products with (selective) asynchronous mobile support and a superior User Experience.
We are seeking the solution to provide and support Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and include the tracking of opportunities, pipeline management and bid processes including resource modelling and contract management. The conversion of a success contract through to a project for delivery.
People Management
We are seeking a Human Capital Management (HCM) to support all facets of the employee journey including, for ESR, payroll.
There is a strong desire for the future solution to support self-service and collaboration across the group, be easy to use on any device from anywhere, support process automation, electronic workflows and to be delivered on modern technology and provide an exceptional but simple end user experience. We are seeking a solution that will provide for Talent Management, Development and Career Pathways, Learning Management and Performance alongside standard HR functions that support core HR services.
