Timaru District Council (TDC) are committed to providing a civic environment that attracts performances, buskers, and community events. TDC invite Architects and Designers to provide a concept design to transform Strathallan Corner into an environment that invites people to linger, enjoy lunch in the sun or the shade, gather, and move easily, doubling as blue-green infrastructure and supporting improved environmental outcomes.

The concept should enhance the site’s role as both a tranquil refuge and vibrant performance space. By removing the existing fountain structure, and with the new toilet block at the edge of the site (Stage 1), it is intended that the area creates an environment more engaged with street life that improves accessibility and encourages both movement and relaxation. Terraced seating and play features should evoke the town’s centre and blending with the environment.
