Overview

MetService operates a highly complex technology environment that has evolved organically over the past 2-3 decades. The current state comprises a vast collection of platforms, products, applications, cloud environments, datacentres, tools and development languages.

This organic growth has resulted in a 'technical debt' that is costly and inefficient to maintain, and certain business-critical platforms are no longer considered fit-for-purpose. Our challenges have been compounded by internal capability constraints, a lack of standards/best-practices and an historic 'bespoke' mentality where components are tightly coupled and brittle to change.

A core pillar of MetService’s Digital Strategy has prioritised the design and delivery of a new technology environment. It is envisaged this initiative, currently referred to as the Common Digital Platform (CDP) will provide a modernised, cloud-first environment that will streamline the design, implementation and operational support of MetService’s core digital offering.

The purpose of this RFI is to assist MetService in identifying a preferred cloud technology that will be leveraged to support delivery of the CDP, based on a number of priority scenarios that have been presented in this document. After the RFI process, and in conjunction with the successful respondent, MetService will develop a ‘Proof-of-Concept’ (POC), which will be followed by an iterative programme of work to build out prioritised platform functionality.
