Overview

The Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) Ltd is New Zealand’s Crown research Institute that specialises in science relating to people and communities. It’s our Science that helps safeguard people’s health, protect food-based economies, improve the safety of freshwater and groundwater resources, and contributes expert forensic science to the justice system
ESR is seeking to purchase two containerised (transportable) laboratories for use in Tonga. ESR requires design, specification and construction capabilities.
ESR’s preference is to work with a one-stop shop (design and build) but we can separate design and construction if needed. Design services must be complete, include all amenities eg HVAC, electrical, plumbing, gas reticulation, joinery etc, and be capable of being priced and constructed (ie “detailed design”).
One of the labs is a physical containment level 2 (PC2) facility so understanding of PC2 requirements is a must. AS/NZS 2982-2010 Lab Design and Construction is the preferred level of finish, but if this is not achievable in a containerised environment any deviations need to be discussed and agreed with ESR.
