Overview

EECA seeks to encourage uptake of distributed flexibility solutions in commercial and industrial sectors through enablement of behind-the-meter flexibility such as battery storage and interruptible loads.

EECA intends to open a tender within the next one to two weeks for co-funding support for deployment of flexibility-enabling technologies at commercial and industrial sites.

We are interested to hear from industrial or commercial energy-users who are exploring deployment of battery energy storage systems (BESS) of reasonable scale at their site, who would be ready to apply for support from EECA, and are prepared to move quickly to apply. We will also work with market intermediaries who have strong regional or sector relationships and who can facilitate projects through implementation.

Solar can play an important role in distributed energy solutions; however, EECA’s present funding scope is centered on BESS and flexibility technologies. It is expected that:
- Projects will deliver flexibility benefits of reasonable scale
- Funding agreements for successful applicants will be signed before June 2026
- Applicant internal approvals are in place prior to submission of application.
