As part of its work with business to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy projects the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) provides loans to public sector agencies for full or partial funding to install or replace equipment to achieve energy savings or fuel switching or for the purchase of electric vehicles.
Loans are available to government departments, district health boards, Crown owned companies, territorial authorities, regional councils, universities, polytechnics, public and integrated schools.
EECA evaluates applications according to the payback period, carbon dioxide emission reductions, how much energy the project saves or is replaced by renewable energy, ability of the project to be a demonstration site for other government organisations, communities, and within the private sector, other benefits, such as reduced maintained costs, better air quality and industry development.
Crown loans are interest-free, and there is a one-off flat rate procurement fee of 6% to cover EECA’s establishment and loan administration costs.
Applications must be received by EECA no later than 4:00 pm, 31 March 2017.
