This advance Notice of Information (NOI) is to advise that the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) on GETS.
The RFP will be seeking proposals from capable providers to supply and operate a technology platform for a public cloud marketplace.
We expect to publish the Public Cloud ICT Marketplace RFP in early-mid February 2017. We will issue a further NOI in late January 2017 that will confirm the RFP publish date.
Please note that this RFP is not seeking proposals from suppliers of cloud products and services.
Why are we doing this?
New and disruptive cloud technologies have created an opportunity for the New Zealand government to access low cost commercial models and bring more innovation to deliver better public services. In order to realise those benefits, DIA is leading a project to deliver a Public Cloud ICT Marketplace, as part of a wider programme to accelerate agency uptake of public cloud services.
The Public Cloud ICT Marketplace supports delivery of the Better Public Services programme. By enabling improved access and capability to emerging technologies, New Zealand government will be better equipped to improve effectiveness and reduce the cost of common business functions. The PCMP will also enable agencies to deliver improved digital services consistent with NZ Government’s Result 9 and Result 10 Better Public Services outcomes.
There are significant savings available to New Zealand government through this initiative. In addition, DIA also expects broad non-monetary benefits, such as open and transparent government consumption of Public Cloud IT capabilities. The PCMP will also support government agencies to adopt the best and most effective public cloud services. Furthermore, providers of cloud products and services will have a platform by which to increase their visibility across agencies by selling innovative technology direct to government.
