Overview

We invite sub-leasees to register interest in a Café opportunity as detailed below.

Ara Institute of Canterbury, the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) and the University of Canterbury, (the partners) are working together to develop a facility that integrates health research, education and simulation environments based on clinical care in a shared collaborative space. The facility has been termed the Health Research and Education Facility (HREF).

HREF presents an opportunity to develop a high profile, open to the public Café. The Café is to be located on the ground floor of a new six story central city building directly adjacent to the Christchurch Public Hospital. The Café includes interior dining and an exterior seating area within a North facing courtyard/lane. The area of the proposed Café is 92.35sqm which includes the external area. It is expected that at peak times approaching 1200 people will be in or around the building and potential customers could be drawn from the neighbouring CDHB Corporate Office, the newly built Outpatients, Medcar and Acute Services buildings all adjacent to the Christchurch Public Hospital and under construction presently.

HREF will be marketed as a world-class facility and, by co-locating with the CDHB and University of Canterbury, will enable the establishment of a centre of excellence in health education and research.

WHAT WE NEED:
Given HREF is located within the Health Precinct (Te Papa Hauora), with a focus on training, health and wellbeing, the partners are seeking to assign a lease to a provider who can provide a range of wholesome food, excellent barista style coffee and a range of food at different price points to accommodate varying budgets from students to senior management. Cooking facilities on site are very limited, bake off site options will need to be considered.

WHATS IMPORTANT TO US:
The partners are looking for an established provider for a long term opportunity who has the capability, experience and infrastructure to deliver a value for money offering for a range of customers. They need to have a good track record in the management and implementation of previous successful cafes offering healthy options. The partners are looking for new ideas, fresh thinking to encourage and sustain the building residents.
