Overview

The objective of this Registration of Interest (ROI) is to facilitate a short list of preferred Main Contractors to tender for the refurbishment and expansion to the existing Gastroenterology Department located on the 2nd floor level of the Edmund Hillary Building, Middlemore Hospital. Included as part of the scope is the following:
• Increasing procedural capacity, by constructing one additional procedure room;
• New facilities and equipment to support complex endoscopic interventions often under heavy sedation which requires general anaesthesia;
• Improving the internal fit-out to provide more complex interventional procedures; and
• Improve overall patient healthcare and experience.
All construction will take place in the Edmund Hillary Building and will comprise of (1) demolition works, (2) space re-planning, and (3) internal clinical fit-out. Note this ROI and the subsequent Request for Tender (RFT) addresses all of items 1, 2 and 3. The clinical fit-out will consist of an isolation area, scope cleaning room, expanded patient preadmission area, and expanded staff facilities. There will be changes to existing infrastructure, which includes fire protection and detection systems, information technology, Medical Gases, and UPS.
Construction will take place in a working hospital environment with the Gastroenterology Department remaining operational throughout the works with staging of the construction required. A copy of the proposed construction staging breakdown is attached.
