Registrations of Interest from Main Contractors are called for the construction of a new 76 bed 7500m2 new Acute Mental Health Unit to replace an existing unit at Middlemore Hospital. The new facility is the first of its type in New Zealand and is designed around internal courtyards. It is mainly single level with a 2nd storey office. Construction is reflective of a large sprawling residential facility however to be built to exacting safe and fitting standards for acute mental health patients. The new unit is built on the same site as the existing unit in two stages with the existing unit remaining in operation but with a part decanted elsewhere. Construction is expected to commence in July this year with completion around December 2018. Registrations should be in hard copy per clause 3.3 of the RoI.
