Project Energize is an evidence-based approach to improving the nutrition and levels of physical activity of children. Project Energize is to be implemented in a range of Wellington schools.
In principle, the focus of the service will be on the identified needs of schools and their students, including the acuteness of need and the capacity to benefit. It is expected that key messages will be extended to the home and the school’s broader community through community development and social marketing. However, it is expected that the level of intensity of service provision will be higher to those schools with the lowest decile rating. The service will be complementary to any service provided by other health providers in schools, or by the education and welfare sectors.
It is expected that the preferred provider will be based within the wider Wellington region.
