The Council owns three transfer stations in the city located at Parkhouse Road, Styx Mill Road and Metro Place.
Operation and maintenance of the transfer stations is essential to meeting the Council’s service levels in respect of providing public drop off facilities for rubbish and recycling as well as the provision of a processing facility for kerbside recycling.
The transfer stations are being upgraded to enable them to function flexibly and offer optimised waste, recycling and recovery services for the city.
There are two construction contracts for the redevelopment and each of the three sites is treated as a separable portion within each contract.
The first contract is a Lump Sum 3190:2013 agreement for the Priority One (P1) scope of works which includes modifications to the existing refuse transfer buildings and civil works on each of the three transfer station sites. Beca Ltd. (Beca) are the Design Consultant for the P1 scope.
The second contract is a Lump Sum 3196:2013 agreement for the Priority Two (P2) scope of works which includes the construction of two new buildings, the provision of a relocatable staff welfare building and civil works on each of the three transfer station sites. Beca have prepared the concept design for the P2 scope.
