The Contract Works can generally be summarised as the following:

The redevelopment of Avon Park in the Ōtakaro Avon River Corridor, including:

• The removal of the existing stopbank, the decommissioning of existing wastewater and water supply and stormwater infrastructure, and the removal of Avonside Drive through the park site.
• Significant earthworks, including the construction of stopbanks, to contour the site and provide flood protection.
• Construction of a boardwalk, basketball court, car parks and playground.
• Installation of drainage and other stormwater assets.
• Relocation of the existing toilet block.
• Landscaping and planting, including the installation of furniture.
