Following extensive community consultation, Council is very close to commence procurement for the design and rebuild the Akaroa Wharf. The rebuild of the wharf requires the removal of the existing heritage wharf structure replaced with a new fit for purpose structure that addresses sea level rise and allows the 2 existing, privately owned buildings to connect.

As an indicative outline Council expect to be in the market, via GETs for:

1. Lead Designer. Covers all design requirements associated with the deconstruction phase, through new build Concept to either Preliminary or Detailed Design Stage. (Target time to market = January 2023)
2. Lead Consultant. Covers client side project management, construction monitoring, contract administration and engineers rep duties. (Target time to market = January 2023)
3. Contractor(s). A lead Contractor responsible for all materials and installation. This role may expand to final detailed design, consenting and build. Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) resource will also be required ((to assist with design advisory). (Target time to market = Mid 2023)
